Missing their two All-Stars, the Nets played inspired basketball, but lost a 12 point 2nd half lead, and fell one possession short of the Mavericks in New Jersey. Dirk Nowitzki hit a fadeaway jumper in the lane with :25 seconds left to give Dallas a 1 point lead, and the Nets turned the ball over twice down the stretch to give the Mavs the win. New Jersey got great performances from Rodney Rogers and their guards, Kerry Kittles and Lucious Harris, who looked completely different then they did Friday in New York. Richard Jefferson led all scorers with 22, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists.
