The Timberwolves went on a 15-0 fourth quarter run to break open what was an ugly, low-scoring game and hand the Nets their first loss in the Lawrence Frank era. Troy Hudson replaced an injured Sam Cassell in the starting line-up and exploded for 29 points on 11-19 shooting. The match-up of All-Star power forwards was even, with Kenyon Martin matching Kevin Garnett shot for shot. K-Mart and Jason Collins were the Nets only bright spots, as the rest of the team shot a combined 30%.
