The Nets played well in the first half, but could not keep up with the Dallas offense, and fell to the Mavs by 16 Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands. Dirk Nowitzki and Jerry Stackhouse were unstoppable for Dallas, combining for 59 of the team's 94 points. Richard Jefferson scored 28 for the Nets, and Zoran Planinic played well, adding 16 points and 9 rebounds, but New Jersey got nothing from their bench. Alonzo Mourning had his first ineffective game of the season, scoring just 5 points on 1 of 3 shooting in 22 minutes. The Nets activate Awvee Storey before the game, placing Ron Mercer on the injured list.
