The Brooklyn Nets roll-out takes many forms --events, ticket and merchandise sales, new social media-- even door-to-door. Well, sort of door-to-door. Gary Sussman took P.J. Carlesimo and Bobby Marks to Yankee Stadium on Tuesday to meet and greet Yankee players and coaches as well YES personalities in the booth.
Kerry Kittles, one of the most beloved Nets over the last 35 years, will highlight Monday's halftime tribute to the team's 35 years in New Jersey. In addition, several former Nets who are still playing or coaching in the NBA will sending along video tributes for the events, among them reportedly Jason Kidd.
Gary Sussman, the voice of the Nets throughout the Jason Kidd era...and the debacle and rebirth that followed...is giving up his public address role with the Nets, but keeping his role as spokesman for the team.
Nets will launch a web series, "Destination: Springfield" Monday on NJNets.com, featuring in the words of Gary Sussman, "the Killer B's and General Lee". That would be Billy King, Bobby Marks and Milton Lee, the Nets' director of minor league basketball operations also known as Armor general manager.
One benefit of the Nets move from the Izod to the Prudential Center comes today as the Nets gather for Thanksgiving dinner in New Jersey. For 24 straight Thanksgivings, the team were on the road. The Meadowlands arena, call it Brendan Byrne, Continental Airlines or Izod, was home this week to an ice show.
