King "Not Nervous" About $287 Million For Four Players

Colin Cowherd asked Billy King Monday if he was "nervous" that he had just committed $287 million to four players: Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace. Nope "I'm not nervous. they're four very good basketball players. They're proven. I'd be more nervous if this was their rookie deal and you're hoping they'll continue to progress. We've got a good gauge on how they are on talent. Now our job as an organization is help them gel on the court." Asked if it was "painful" losing Dwight Howard, King simply said, "That's my job. Thats what I'm supposed to do, improve our basketball team."

Little Hope For Hump?

Billy King hinted strongly Wednesday that it's increasingly unrealistic that Kris Humphries will return to the Nets and made a little fun at his expense as well. Reminded about Humphries’ oft-repeated desire to play in Brooklyn, King threw in a little jab (referencing a Hollywoodlife.com article in which Humphries said he wants to play for Team USA). As reported by Stefan Bondy, King said, "We'll be in discussion with him and see what numerical number he's looking for. He also said he wants to play for the Olympic team too."

Agent Denies Nets Interest in Walsh

Steve Kauffman, the agent for former Knicks GM Donnie Walsh, denies a report that Walsh is not interested in a top GM job and that the Nets have expressed interest in him for a lesser job. Kauffman called the report, by Knicks blogger Tommy Dee "totally false in both respects...absurd." Kauffman also represents Bobby Marks, the Nets assistant GM.

If They Get It, Blazers May Trade Net Pick

Chad Buchanan, acting GM of the Trail Blazers tells Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com that if the Nets don't wind up with the #1, #2 or #3 pick in the Lottery, Portland may trade whatever pick they get. "A big part of acquiring that pick (from the Nets), we realize that there'll be value not only to us in the draft but also to other teams where you might be able to flip that high pick into a proven player that is ready to help your team now."

Billy King will be on with WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts Friday morning at 11:05 a.m. He'll be discussing the Nets trade of Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and the Nets' protected 2012 first round pick for Gerald Wallace. He might be asked about Dwight Howard too. Brett Yormark will be interviewed by Jared Max on 1050 ESPN Radio at 5:45 a.m. Later on Friday, Yormark will be interviewed on Fox Business Network at 4:30 p.m.

The Nets are still trying to make things better for those in need, in Newark and in Brooklyn, by sending turkeys and dishing out food at community centers...but without the players. One place they gone on past Thanksgivings, the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Newark, remembers what it was like with the players present. "It was an awesome day," Deacon Gilbert Snead Jr. recalls to Al Iannazzone. "The way they interacted with the community, it was like they were at home." Now, he's hoping the lockout will be over by Christmas so the players can come back.
