Developer to invest big in training facility site

In a profile of Industry City, home of the Nets new training facility, the Daily News quotes the CEO of the Brooklyn development saying the company will invest $100 million in the first phase of a plan to modernize the 100-year old, 16-building site.

Nets have tentative deal for Brooklyn headquarters

Andrew Keh of the Times writes Saturday that the Nets have signed a tentative deal to move basketball operations into Brooklyn's Industry City, as NetsDaily reported in October. Keh writes that with the move, the Nets will leave New Jersey behind.

Will the Nets be anchor for hip new neighborhood?

With their decision to put their training facility to the Brooklyn Waterfront, the Nets have bought into an idea that a gritty urban landscape can be turned into the latest youth-oriented neighborhood in New York, a Meatpacking District for Brooklyn.


The Nets will build a $50 million training facility atop an eight floor Brooklyn industrial building overlooking New York Harbor. The building, part of the 16-building Industry City complex off 39th Street, will house team offices as well.

Training Facility Search Broadens

The Nets are looking at a number of sites for their new training facility. According to a Brooklyn website, in addition to visiting site near Brooklyn Ikea in Red Hook, team representatives visited a school bus depot, also in Red Hook, recently.

Crain's New York Business reports that the Nets visited a site in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn Thursday, one with spectacular views of Lower Manhattan, as they push their plan to build a new training facility to replace the PNY Center.
