How important will chemistry be to the Nets season? No doubt a lot, and the team seems to understand that. They're all in town working out and keeping it light. Even the bad boy of the group has been committed. It's not all about talent.

They are the photos of the day: Brook and Brooks of Brooklyn, aka Brook Lopez and MarShon Brooks had their picture taken Tuesday and neither looked very comfortable, Lopez in a barbers chair, Brooks amidst the snack food fare.

Billy King likes the Nets playoff chances "on paper" and even thinks they can contend for a championship this year, "with luck", but he also talked Tuesday about the team's need for defense and chemistry. One good thing: all his players are in camp.

Participation in informal workouts before the head coach blows the first whistle is one indicator of players' commitment to their team. For the Nets, this year has been extraordinary, as 17 of a possible 18 players have been in the gym at some point.

The Nets completed free agency Monday with the signings of Stephen Dennis, James Mays, and Carleton Scott. Dennis and Scott played for the Nets summer league team in Orlando. All three are veterans of international leagues.
