Morrow, D-Will, Armor Trio Featured On "All Star Saturday" Schedule

It will be a busy day on NBA TV and two Nets players and four members of the Springfield Armor will get a chance to show off their stuff in skills competitions and the D-League All-Star Game.

MarShon Has Eight in Rising Stars

Marshon Brooks scored eight points and handed out three assists in the Rising Stars Challenge Friday, helping "Team Chuck" beat "Team Shaq. Although there were highlights, like an alley-oop to John Wall, there were two lowlights too: a hesitant and ultimately failed attempt at a windmill dunk early and then an airballed three off Reggie Miller-style drop back.

Game Thread: BBVA Rising Stars Challenge

MarShon Brooks will take the court at 9 p.m. ET for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend. Brooks is playing for "Team Chuck" in the game. Among his teammates: former Net Derrick Favors, Kyrie Irving, John Wall, and Paul George. They'll be facing "Team Shaq", with two Knicks, Jeremy Lin and Landry Fields as well as Blake Griffin and Ricky Rubio.

D-Will's Mom Takes on Radio Host

Early today, Arnie Spanier, a Dallas radio host engaged Denise Smith, Deron Williams' mom, in a long and, by the radio station's own admission, bizarre conversation. She laughed off most questions but did say, emphatically, that he son "likes New Jersey" and one reason is the anonymity and privacy New York offers. She also said she'd like to see her grandchildren and she hates the Lakers.

Howard: Magic a "Big Possibility"

The biggest news out of Orlando was that Dwight Howard said it's possible he'd stay with the Magic. "It's a big possibility. It's a big possibility." Otis Smith said that the Magic are indeed hopeful and put chances at 50-50. “I think he wants to be here. I think he likes being here,” Smith said. Deron Williams kept his mouth shut,

YouTube Hits, But Not Many Votes

For those who regularly follow this site, the video of Mikhail Prokhorov rapping on Russian TV was old news. We posted it two weeks ago. Now AP reports, it's gone viral. "On Thursday, a YouTube video of his performance was widely circulated on Twitter by rap fans, sports writers and young Russians charmed by somber-faced Prokhorov’s rare moment of silliness."

The Jewish Jordan, The Landlord, and a Boa Constrictor Named Tinkerbelle

In the latest edition of "Blindsided", Jordan Farmar takes teammate Shelden Williams to an unconventional yoga instructor. What happens next, which includes wheat grass, instruction in the art of flatulence and an encounter with a boa constrictor named Tinkerbelle really defies further description.

Brooks Preps for Rising Stars Friday

For the Nets, the first All-Star events start Friday morning with Rising Stars Challenge practice. The game, with MarShon Brooks promising a scoring show, starts at 9 p.m. For Brooks, it's already a big night. Most of the players drafted ahead of him at #25 will be at home or in the stands, not on the court.

King Already Working on D12 Deal?

Chris Mannix offers a balanced assessment of the Magic's alternatives over the next two weeks and believes that Dwight Howard will be dealt, and in fact, he writes that Billy King is already out there, texting, phoning, thinking of ways to put together a deal...and this being Billy King, it's likely to be multi-team.

Nets Serious About Playoff Chances

As Jim Mora might say, "Playoffs...You kidding me? I just hope we can win a game!" But indeed the Nets, six and a half games behind the Celtics for the last spot in the East, are serious about it, in spite of a 10-25 record and league-highs in missed games, 122; starting lineups, 17; and players lost to season-ending injuries, three.
