The situation, he writes, remains “fluid” adding “it is believed” Kiki Vandeweghe would accept the coaching job “on an interim basis”. Ths team seems more tired of Frank right now than the fans do… Off with his head!
Kiki, have fun trying for a win before March rolls around. If we can’t get someone to play power forward or force Harris to actully play like a point guard, we the fans, are screwed Frank still has to go regardless, but it will be pitiful, painful season with no turn around.
I hope this is hurting Ratner’s pockets as much as it is hurting the fans.

One and only franchise in the league that would tolerate this kind of crap. And it’s not like we’ve any positives to back up this kind of decision making (or not).

Nets have serious roster problems: no superstar, two burgeoning star players (Lopez and Harris), and filler.
Some of the filler may have potential (CL, CDR, YJ, TW), but just compare this roster to even that of a mediocre team and it looks like the Nets are a 20-25% win team at best.
Getting rid of Frank (which may be necessary just to create a new start) will not solve any of the real problems.

Why are we letting them make the people that bought season tickets miserable…Frank are you kidding? Its getting sick now, has any coach ever made it this long? He is the most tenure in east he should have experience, yet the most he bought us was second round of playoffs.

There is so much talk here about whether or not Frank should be fired because that’s all there is to discuss. But really, what difference does it make? We all figured this was at best a 30 or so win team even before all the injuries, so who really cares if Frank stays for a day, two more weeks, two months, or for the rest of the season? We want a high pick (number 1 would be very nice), and then we can go out and sign some quality players to play with a very good, young nucleus. I don’t know if they’ll be the top tier free agents, and probably not (but you never know), but this year was going to be a lost cause from day one and it really doesn’t matter if Frank goes or stays.

D’Antoni is doing great! Why isn’t there talk of firing him? And who has he developed? Hill? Gallinari seems okay, but soft. Lopez, Harris, CDR, and even T-Will and the resurgence of Hayes and Dooling are all on Frank. D’Antoni would be happy if he developed one such player. I have not seen anyone in MSG having a career year under D’Antoni. Frank has been given nothing. There is not a single shooter on this team. It is a poorly put together team. With Lopez and Harris you need pure shooters. We don’t have one. Our best was Kristic, but they let him walk.

While yes, theres some upside to losing, theres much more to be lost. No free agent is going to come to Jersey if we can’t win. If we finish up with the worst record in the league, who’s going to sign with us?

A team with Udrich, Hawes, and Evans as their best players can win games, and I continue to see people making excuses.

No coach is going to make a difference at this point and all your going to get from management is spin until we have money to make a change. I would wait until Yi comes back and then let Kiki deal with the historic bust that he raved about and brought here to go along with this historic loser of a team. As a loyal and hard working guy, the coach deserves to be paid and sit on a beach in Maui while he watches the disaster Ratner created. On the other hand I would love for this coach to learn from his mistake about going small or weak at PF. He is slowly learning it and if he sees good results he might accept the fact that shooters are not the priority at PF. He needs to play good strong defenders. To bad the only one we got lasts about 12 min a game and the one he starts is about as good as a backup. I think at this point if he had what he needed at PF he would play him and after having some success he would learn what it takes. After seeing him sub TWill last night for Swat after 1 foul in the first qtr. and down by double digits while they’re driving the lane at will, he still doesn’t see the need to have a defensive PF when one is available. He should play Swat until he fouls out. I don’t think he trusts him. He’s probably right. The price of learning.

I’m agreeing w/ Pinetar…0-18 then Goodbye….Any team that rehires this guy has to be out of their minds…unless he is hired as a commentator…..But then again…Say we keep it (him)…. Of Course we lose alot of games…Maybe 0-82 ???…We draft John Wall with the #1 pick , Trade Devin Harris for the Rights to Rubio , Get Lebron (with the help of JZ) , pick up Boozer , Lee ??? and get rid of Yi ,etc….What do you guy’s think ????

The draft misses by Thorn are now hurting the team. SWill,MWill,AWright,JBoone,Zoran, guys in their prime that should be the core of a good team are gone or worthless. Two guys that were hits, Kristic and Korver are also gone. This mess is all Thorn. Remember he got MJ by default, he admitted he would have taken Bowie if available. In Thorn I do not trust.

@JK–my point is that this team was going to lose regardless of who the coach was(or is.) We knew that going into the season.
@Chris2–100% correct, but I’d include a real PF in your list of needs, also before a new coach.

The marketing of the Brooklyn arena bonds will begin in a few days. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Frank is fired before that happens. Investor confidence means too much.

A team with a huge, mobile frontline and a bevy of shooters and ballhandlers vs. a roster with no shooters, defenders and one NBA level big man.
It takes a real genius to see no difference between the Kings’ roster and the Nets. You just watched these teams YESTERDAY! How bad is your short-term memory?

So suddenly, a team (Kings) that most of you thought we’re superior to during the offseason….becomes “SOO SOO MUCH” more talented than the Nets, even without two of their starters??????
Wow!!! And some of you thought Harris, Lopez, Lee, CDR, and TWill are gonna “ATTRACT” big time players to come here. If they’re not “supposed” to beat the Kings without two of their starters (Martin and Garcia), I do not know what ‘d make the Nets special, and perhaps we should just go zero win all season. Keep the excuse coming.

L. Frank deserves to be here for the first win of the season, whether that be now or in March. At least he’s put in the time to work his ass off with arguably the worst collection of talent ever assembled by an NBA team. Who puts together a team without a single shooter, other than the suit models perhaps? Have they even hit a 3 all year?

Well I guess Frank will not be fired, but the worst record probably doesn’t matter to him. He is a millionaire now. I hope it does not go over 20 loses. But I have a feeling 25 straight loses with or without Frank. The first win most likely will be against Minnesota.

Bottom line:
Do you truly believe that the Nets is INFERIOR to the Kings? Bad teams are generally not inferior to one another; bad teams can beat some mediocre teams. The Kings’ roster last night is inferior to most NBA teams. Thus, if you think the Nets’ roster is inferior to the Kings without Martin and Garcia two key starters, then you’re saying that the Nets (with Harris, Lopez, CDR and Lee) are inferior to a seasonal bad team. That puts the Nets at the D-league level, and if you think so, then tell me again why people are so psyched about the chance of getting a big time FA who’d immediately turn this roster that is inferior to the Kings without Martin and Garcia into a contender?

Most people that want Frank fired are not basing their opinion on this year’s record. It’s his total body of work. He inherited a team that was the EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS; the team has been in a decline ever since.
You can probably give Frank a starting line-up of all-stars and he would still find a way of not winning a championship. Oh, I know, the excuse would be he doesn’t have a bench.

Fans will always blame the coach first. It’s like some sort of knee-jerk reaction.
And of course Frank will say it’s his own fault – he’s a humble guy.
What I notice you’re avoiding, though, is what the experts say, or what the beat writers who actually talk to Frank say. Interesting.

It doesn’t matter what you or anyone else thinks on paper about a team. The Kings are a team that plays well together and they have a coach and energy guys that enable them to play at a high level. Westphal is challenging his players to be accountable instead of taking the blame and letting them off the hook. Theus criticized them and created a divisive effect not unlike Byron. So judging them off of last year’s performance is useless. Their rookies are obviously impacting their team effectively and Beno is playing like it is his contract year all over again.
This logic that can also be applied to Houston, which as a team has no business being as competitive as they are. They do however have a coach that holds them accountable and energy guys and defensive effort that never takes a day off.
