Good article. I can’t believe someone in the heiarchy would say that yesterday was the greatest day in franchise history. That just goes to show how little they care about the franchise and it is all about money not basketball

Closest Kiki has come to coaching was in Dallas under Cuban when he was director of player development. His star pupils were Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash.
As for the person who called Tuesday the greatest day in Nets history, he cannot leave too soon.

Another potential coach is Gregg Polinsky, the Nets director of player personnel and chief scout. He began his coaching sojourn in 1981 as an assistant at Howard College (1981-83), and served in a similar capacity at the University of Texas (1983) and the University of Alabama (1986-95) before assuming the head coaching post at Georgia Southern, a position he held from 1995-99. He had a losing record.
Only problem is that lives in Birmingham, AL.

I guess Ratner called it the greatest day.
Can’t we hope that Frank, Thorn, and Kiki can ride this season out until Prokhorov takes over and then get back to what they do best, which is game preparation, making blockbuster trades, and player development, respectively? Ratner has them hamstrung and is making all three of them look bad. Also, the team is a nervous wreck due to the chaos Ratner’s spending-freeze has caused, and the on-the-court performance of the team has finally caught up with all of this.
It’s true, Ratner can’t abdicate his throne soon enough.

NI, good call on Polinsky. I would not have thought of him as a possibility. I think it would probably be Kiki though. I am not a Frank fan and don’t blame him for everything this season but it seems like his leaving is inevitable. At this point it has become almost as big a distraction as the losing streak. I don’t see how they can keep him if they come home with 1 or 0 wins.

kiki as coach??? Help us! He’d have Yi playing every minute of every game just to prove he did not make a tremendous blunder in acquiring the next Dirk. Dirt, really. He got one letter wrong. And, yes, next year will be a clean house – no Thorn, no Rat, no Kiki, no Frank – And, we can only pray half of the players are gone too. A good old fashion butt kicking is in store for tonight. In retrospect, Kiki and Thorn probably could do nothing, so did nothing and put the worst possible product on the floor for this year. It would serve them right if they coached this mess: Thorn as coach, Kiki as assistant, and the Rat as the towel boy.

Just let Frank go now. This realy is a lost season. Were only going to win 10 games this year. Next year there will be a new front office ,new coach….

Yi is not a bad player. Why is everyone hating on him? He even put on muscle to show he is not soft.
He is just a franchise player or even Dirk-lite that the Nets wanted him to be. He was overhyped.
He just has a chance to be a good player on a stacked team… and no… not everyone can be a good player on a stacked team…

Why the Yi hating? How about this? Kiki sold us a ton of BS when he knew he was – had to – dumb salary for the Rat. And he talked about his fallen angels and Yi as a corner stone. Lies. Lies. Lies. And then he thought he’d actually find a diamond in the rough in Yi and he’d make sure nothing would stand in his way. Not even Ryan Anderson! Yi as starter means bad team. We hate that we are a bad team. Yi is the poster boy of bad team: soft, uncertain, indecisive, slowwwwwwwwwww. Could they have gotten Boozer and saved this mess of a season? Big Baby and make us have an inside presence? Anything but soft Yi. He is not a franchise player, but he may not even be an NBA player.

I like Polinsky. I sat next to him during a summer league game this year and he was very pleasant and seemed like a terrific guy.

What does Yi have to do with anything? He’s not even playing.
The problem is Sean Williams and Josh Boone are not NBA players. When the Nets finally let them go, they will never do anything for another NBA team.

Isaac I wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
But – c’mon man, don’t be so harsh. The sky is the limit for the Nets right now.
Overnight our fortunes will change, not only because of Brooklyn but because we’ll have an owner who’ll spend $.
You won’t have to worry about Yormark – he’ll be on Ratners payroll as CEO of BSE as NI alluded to.
The Nets will become a legitimate NBA franchise once again and for this you should he happy.
The future is bright, my friend.

So, we disagree on if it’s soon ENOUGH…
In other words, why am I watching this team?
Well, we may see some life from this team this season. The injuries have been a little bit over the top, plus there’s young guys, rookies and few who’ve played together. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they played 500 ball after the allstar break.
It will be fun to see what the change in ownership does. I like the international ownership here in the home of the UN. AY move + sales of team = dramatic sports story. And of course its interesting following the stories of the individual developing players.
OTOH The losing streak is especially hard to watch because it’s so hard on the players. You gotta feel for them. They are in the toughest spot in the NBA in publicity. Some of these games could have gone either way. Nets have to play through it like a shooter shoots through a missing streak. But I cringe to watch. Go Brooklyn Nets!

I fint it absolutely laughable that people keep calling Boone and even Yi not NBA players. LAUGHABLE. I guess it’s part of all this making excuses for Opie thing.
Neither Yi nor Boone are the problem here. They’re both useful young players who should be part of our future. Yi isnt even playing right now, you people are ridiculous. The kid was doing well before getting injured. Boone has done a decent job during Yi’s absence.
As for Frank’s replacement, I think it’ll be Kiki. He put this roster together and he should take over. He could be a good mentor. At least you know he wont do anything that could hurt those kids, whose development is the only thing I care about right now.

BTW: for those VC haters, if any of you saw orlando’s game last night there you see who we lost. He hit an imposible 3 to put the Magics ahead. too bad Jason williams missed the free throws and michael beasley hit a dunk to win the game. but that 3 pointer was just amazing.

Kiki will be the coach of this train wreck on Monday. Franks is being released 5 years too late and there is no hope for this team.
As for those of you that seem to think in 3 years if the team is in Brooklyn, it will be in great shape, I could care less, I won’t be rooting for them if they play in Brooklyn. I will divide my hatred evenly for the Knicks and Nets if that is the case.

Kiki would be a great interim coach. Make L. Frank a asssitant coach for practice. If he does not like the DEMOTION, then have him take a large paycut from that $4.5million he makes this year. he then can walk. Wow! Foolish Salary. For the future head coaching position bring in C. Laettner from Coach K’s stable. This guy would lead and have a presence of command that will add to the championship team we will have going into Brooklyn. D.Overton is a solid assistant coach that works well with the players to stay on the staff.

Yi is not a problem, even though missing significant time has hurt this team. The problem is the front office and their god awful decisions…for instance, dumping Ryan Anderson for an inefficient player like courtney lee. We could use a guy like Anderson in the front court so bums like Simmons won’t see the floor.

I think they should wait until the future is more clear, before replacing Frank with an interim coach.
First need to have the finances settle and have a known time frame when Proky will be making decisions.
How is Kiki going to teach defense? By tapes of his playing years?
Frank is giving the Nets national exposure, even if the wrong kind.
First priority after settling on Brooklyn, is allowing Thorn to pull off a trade or two. Who the coach is, should be lower priority now.
Re: Ryan Anderson – There wasn’t room in the future Nets for both Ryan and Yi. At this point, I would have preferred Nets give Yi with Carter and keep Anderson. By the time Anderson is Yi’s probable age, he will be a decent defender too.
C. Lee should be the best outside shooter on Nets, based on past performance. He had 6 steals in 22 minutes in his return. Not sure why he only played 10 minutes against Portland?
