Without saying the Nets will match that level of mediocrity or worse, Vandeweghe admits, “It’s sort of a similar situation.” As Tomasson points out, the Nuggets did wind up with Carmelo Anthony in the 2003 draft. Still, vets Rafer Alston and Trenton Hassell don’t think it’s that bad…yet. Everyone believes this season is going to be one to forget and if we do have a very poor record then we won’t be picking anywhere between 10-14 in the first round of the draft as in previous years. The draft in 2010 is meant to be very strong and if we got anything like 1-5 then it would be hugely beneficial to the Nets. Look at how much of an impact Melo has had in Denver – if the Nets picked someone of that calibre then it would be a fantastic asset to add to our young core.

If you think what the NETS want to get the best rocky draft in 2010, then you can expect how worse they will like to play for. The worse/lost NETS can, the more happiness the NETS management will enjoy. Nobody care about you: The fans, at all.

We are playing as bad as any team would be while their all star point guard is out. Let alone missing half of our other teammates. No one should worry. I am getting fed up with LFrank though. I never hopped on the wagon before but his small ball creates fouls for the other team and missed rebounds. His halftime adjustments are atrocious. Combine those two and this is why we blow leads in the 3rd and fourth. Tonight should be painful to watch, especially cause I work with 2 Celtics fans

18-22 wins, depending on some of our key players’ health. If Frank keeps playing Simmons at the 4 we’ll be lucky to sniff 12 wins.

No Wins can come out of this team, its depressing to see a disbanded, captainless team…
trade simmons, Hassell, Swat for Stephen Jackson plz. We need a SF badly and Get in 2010 Wade and David Lee.

His biggest error may very well have been the Kmart trade NO. His biggest error was getting Yi and Simmons for RJ. And then falling in love with Yi and then letting Anderson go. Now we would have Lopez, Anderson, Peitrus, Lee/CDR/Williams/Hassell, Alston tonight: that is a much better team than we will suit up tonight.

@ mr. omG – What??? You want Rod Thorn to trade Bobby “I don’t deserve to be playing power forward” Simmons for Stephen “I can’t get along with any coach not in the Dean Smith tree” Jackson???? Do you even know how much worse that would make trading for Simmons (and Yi) in the first place look?

The Nets will get their first win eventually, because I know that they won’t end up going undefeated. Of course, it’s almost impossible for an NBA team to go without a win all season long. Only the NFL seems to have that such as last season when the Lions didn’t even win one game for the 16 weeks they played. As long the Nets can win at least 12 games, they won’t be breaking the record that 1997-1998 Nuggets had for the fewest wins in an 82 game season, which was only winning 11 games.

Kiki’s biggest mistake in DENVER was the KMart trade. It may not have been Thorn’s biggest success, but pay KMart $92.5 million over seven years without a team option was insane…and he has missed more than 150 games to injury since 2004. No player has missed more.

Missing games after signing a contract doesn’t make the signing bad it makes it unlucky. Nobody could predict the future. Martin went to the conference finals last year and is on his way this year as well. Kiki also didn’t want to get K-Mart but had money in his pocket that was burning a hole so this is what he spent it on. I’d rather overpay for a guy who when healthy is a winner than say pay Yi 4 mil to lead you to the lottery. If Kiki has our cap space without Thorn’s guidance I would not put it past him to blow it. Signing Kidd, RJ and VC really paid off. lol. Just look at how much success and money the owner made since Martin left with those 3 healthy players. Martin had more success in 1 year than those three had combined. Do you think Denver is crying now about Martin’s contract? Biggest mistake? NOT! Just think if we had signed Martin and now have Lopez, Martin, RJ, VC and Kidd where we would be. Of course the owner would have to have money.
