We rip on this organization a lot for doing crazy promotions but this is kind of cool. How many NBA fans wished they could meet their favorite player growing up or someone from their team. The thing is it doesn’t sound to promising to just the casual NETS fan. If you go to NJNETS.COM and read the press release it says they will be in “Restaurants, Lounges, and other IZOD CENTER areas”. The casual NETS fan isn’t getting access to the Winners Club restaurant or the court side clubs. These areas usually have some access to Nets players anyways i.e courtside club you can shake the players hands and sometimes they will come into the club if they are injured or even former players.
I think if they want this to take off they should have some players waiting in the lobby maybe by the escalators giving high fives and stuff before they go up to the concourse. I remember a couple years ago Daryl Dawkins was their giving high fives and stuff before a game. But to isolate the players to the more luxurious areas of the arena makes this a waste.

I don’t know how true is this though but I always believed that he would buy Nets no matter what. He wants to be a NBA owner and he would want to buy Nets, of course if Ratner wants to sell the team.

The promo Yormark needs to work on is Punch Me In The Face Night. I will gladly drop $100+ on a ticket if it means i get to punch this guy just once

Its not so much the promotions, but the constant slaps in the face of NJ on a daily basis. I’ve gotten over the fact that we’re moving, but stripping the state out of the name? Marketing to the opposition? Failing to get usage out of a rail station that goes RIGHT TO THE ARENA. Alone, they’re disappointing. Together they’re embarrassing. That matchup plan killed me. We’ve become a running joke.
That being said, this is the best idea he’s had so far. And this isn’t even a great idea. Meet your favorite players who are totally bummed out, and are only there because they’re sick. So what, if we want to meet T-Will, we should hope for him to break his leg? I don’t see why they can’t just let you meet everyone once in a while.
Oh and don’t tell me there’s not some celeb you would want a single jab at.

Brett Yormark is the worst thing ever to happen to the Nets. He focuses on everything but fans who want to chear for the team. I like frigidevil’s promotion…

So you are hating on the guy for trying to market to fans of the NBA and trying to bring some people into the arena. I believe if it wasn’t for Yormark’s promotions we would be averaging about 10,000 people a game at the Izod Center this year. So far we are averaging about 16,500. And that is with a team that is 0-6, soon to be 0-7. If the Nets can get 17,-19,000 for tonight’s game against the Celtics. I would say Yormark did a good job getting fans of the NBA in the seats. Whether its Nets fans or Celtics fans or just fans of the NBA.
When you have a team like ours that right now is a joke. You have to find a way to make some profit off of this team. This is a business. If you were in his shoes, and bleeding money, and it was taking money out of your pockets, you telling me you wouldn’t do the same thing. Please. You are all hypocrites.

I never said he isn’t doing his jobs of putting people in seats, we have a problem with him because has has no respect for the people of New Jersey. If he did, he would have been on top of access to the new train station, which definitely would have brought more fans in. Nobody likes parking in the Medowlands, the price is ridiculous and the traffic is always backed up. The great thing about NJ is that everything is connected by trains, how they can’t capitalize on that is beyond me.
Don’t blame it on the team, look at Golden State. They’d been terrible for a long time, but always manage to maintain their great fanbase. Yormark is hurting our fanbase by advertising the other team and providing a bad experience for fans who do come. Not letting people go down to the lower level way before the game even starts!? Encouraging people to provide a home court advantage for the other team? This likely after a long drive ending in a surprise $15 charge to park. If I were a potential fan looking for a team, I certainly wouldn’t want to be a Nets fan.

@ Frigidevil – If people keep buying tickets, cars, TVs, etc, etc, etc from your business, then there is no incentive to change the way you do things. Out of all the seemingly crazy promotions Yormark has come up with, the jersey promotion was really the only one that was meant to disrespect the people of this state.
