More (Minor) InjuriesOctober 26, 2009, 2:09 pmRafer Alston, Josh Boone and Yi Jianlian were not able to finish Monday’s practice, dealing with minor injuries that don’t look to be serious enough to keep them out of Wednesday’s game in Minnesota. Tony Battie, on the other hand, will have an MRI on his knee Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brook Lopez and Chris Douglas-Roberts are developing some on-court chemistry, and everyone’s got good things to say about Terrence Williams’ ability to play the point. Minnesota’s front line is banged up and they are pretty bad to begin with. We have to come away with a W this game.

Lets trade Harris for a big man and let T-Will run the PG. Except for games what do we have to lose? I predict Harris gets traded by this time next year. Harris = Iverson = Great player but not great PG.

Call me crazy, but …
Harris is also impressed by how easily stuff comes to T-Will:
“He’s been surprising me with the passes he’s able to make out of point guard,” Devo said. “I didn’t know he was athletic enough to play the 1-2-3 and the 4. But he’s been everything we wanted and more.”

TWill enables Harris to be more of an off ball guard. Having TWill on the floor with Harris will make Harris a much more effective player. He can focus on scoring, while TWill looks to create.
And defensively – with both Lee and Williams on the floor – will let DH hide more on defense – or will force DH to refind himself as a defender. Hopefully its the latter – as DH used to be a good defender.

No reason to trade Harris right now. He came a long way last year. Perhaps he progresses further to be a more well rounded point guard this season. Even if he doesn’t, he is still a rare talent that can take over games and is secured to a reasonable long term contract. You don’t trade those guys for the sake of it. Next offseason, our activity in free agency may have an impact on Harris. But thats a long ways off yet.

I would love to experiment with TWill at the point and Devin as our SG. But our coach is Lawrence Frank and he will never change his stubborn, broken formula… It’ll be Bobby Simmons and Shrek Hassell getting 15 min a game in positions they shouldn’t be in while Brook continues to get frustrated playing all alone down low. Can’t wait for Proky to send Frank packing and bring in some crazy Russian coach who’ll have these guys carrying boulders in Siberia as training!

So what happens next if we draft somebody next year who’s more versatile then T-Will y’all gonna start saying trade T-Will. Its shameful no matter how nice Harris is even with the 40+ games last year, His first game as a Net with 21 points still ain’t enough for y’all Nets Daily posters y’all want to trade him. OK trade Harris and I guarantee we not attracting no free agents. Even Wade said it Harris makes this team attractable to free agents one of the best point guards in this league today! And he proves it!

I can get down and dirty with the best of them, in private, but since this is a public forum you watch what you say and do. It’s called “common sense” and “good manners”. Has nothing to do with political correctness. Now lets get back to bashing Yi.

DH has TWill showing the team how PG SHOULD be played
DH is definetly trade bait in my book
One of the young wings will have to go for Lebron and or Bosh
I say DH and a 1st rd pick to Cleve
Yi and a 1st rd pick for Bosh
DH better step his game up or he will be sittin on the bench as soon as the Nets are losing by 10
Funny how DH got mad at the team succeeding without him
DH is a primadonna
You could see it in post game interviews last year when the team was losing and he and VC were benched
Maybe Avery Johnson had DH on a short leash for a reason
I think I would rather have the DH from dallas.

Maybe we look at this from the middle, instead of extremes:
Devin is being reminded of what it takes to be a good PG. TWill’s passing ability does give Devin a chance to use some of his scoring assets. Meanwhile, Twill ‘pushes’ Devin to be a better PG.
And as for trading this or that, or Lebron, Leblahblahblah.
We don’t need no stinkin’ King James.

The talk of trading Harris is nothing more than excitement about T-Will, the thought of getting a few more wins than first expected and greedily wanting more. Once people calm down a little but, myself included we do indeed see that Harris is the leader of this team and THE main cog in the current system.
Devin Harris may be good and even an All-Star, but Terrence Williams is flashy and exciting. That’s going to win over a lot of people.

Devin had something to prove last year. He had the offense built around him and he had Vince’s encouragement to be the man. He became an allstar and i think he proved something to himself. This year, i think Devin is smart enough to realize he cant do it all by himself. I also think he realizes there is some potential with Brook, and Lee, and CDR, and TWill and maybe even Yi. I didn’t always like DH’s attitude last year, but i have a feeling he knows he needs to focus on Defense and get his teammates involved. I think we’re going to see a different dimension to his game and his point guard play will evolve. At least, this is what i am hoping…

@ Pawley – I hope you are right about Harris. I think if he has a stat line of 18pts 8-9ast 1-2 st this team will be just fine. If he thinks he has to score 20+ pts and neglects Defense, this team is doomed.

What you saw from T-Will Friday cannot be taught and luck had nothing to do with his performance. You saw a very talented player, with a great motor, who knows how to play the game right. Great talent and great smarts = Superstar or something close to it. reminds me of the first time I saw Springsteen in 1976, Wow…

I’m looking forward to the season. With harris, T-Will, CDR and Lee, the Nets have a lot of depth in the backcourt. They should just play out the season and see how the chemistry works.
Harris was an All-Star last season. Since only weakness is his health. If T-Will outplays him at the point, then that’s a problem I’d like to have.

If the Nets were running the triangle, T-Will can basically play the Scottie Pippen role and that’s the Point-Forward.
I honestly think if the Nets were to develop Yi Jianlian as a star player, Devin Harris does not mesh with him. T-Will has already shown he can get this team involved while getting his.
If the Russian owner really wants to make money, I can see him offering Devin Harris for Ricky Rubio and then some. Also could get the Nets more cap space to go after Lebron/Bosh or whoever.

Sorry to ask but what does Frank do to them?
It seems like everyday someone new is hurt does Frank kill them in practice? Maybe if we were prepared longer and didnt have a longer vacation and start practicing a month earlier rather then 2 months we would be in shape and good. Frank this job isnt for you please get a job in HohoKus somewhere. I am going to say this again and again and again the only reason Nets did decent with Frank in 06 is because the team was already made for him he used all of Byron Scotts plays and just kept them repeating till teams found them out and then Frank was lost. Kidd was running the team up untill he left for Mavs then Frank was lost. Frank should just be gone when his contract is up NEW COACH, NEW FREE AGENTS, NEW CITY, NEW TEAM!

people want to blame Frank for the players getting injured…i do not like Frank, but jeez!!! If anything, the people we should be pointing fingers at are Dalatri and Walsh!!! Seriously. What kind of lousy job are they doing?
I want nobody to start saying that the Strength and Conditioning coach and Athletic Trainer have nothing to do with players’ injuries. In fact, they have everything to do with injuries.
Remember the rejuvenation of SHAQovic after he was traded from the HEAT to the SUNS?

By the way, if the injuries were major injuries (i.e. a broken leg, arm, etc.), then the Trainer and Strength coach has nothing to do with it, but a whole team getting minor injuries every time they practice? C’mon, people!

Devin Harris averaged 7 assists last season, he likes to score but you can’t say he is like a trash.
an 20 and 7 player is not given easily. T-Will has talents, but you never give up a young promise all-star point guard.
Let’s observe if Harris can be better this season.
