Prokhorov did not involve himself in the inner workings of CSKA Moscow, his Euroleague team, says his old coach, except one time: he wanted to buy out Kirilenko’s NBA contract and bring him back to Russia.

Well, in the defensive end kirilenko can be a nice option, but in the offense…… well ?!$#@2@#$%^@
plz we have Hayes, Twill, Hassell, Simmons as SF (ill love to see hassell and simmons away really bad)
we NEED a Strong PF like David Lee who will become free agent next summer, also we need a well known SG.:
Wade is free next summer.
To attract them you just call, for example:
Prokhorov: Hey wade its me, prokhorov the richest man on the NBA, hows miami this days ?
Wade: oh my God!!! im a great fan of your money…. i mean of your team management!!!

rudy gay – can probably help more than others
wade – my favorite fa next summer
david lee – probably the most underrated pf in the league
stat – say no more every1 knows him
bosh – probably the only coming free agent that knows that he doesn’t want to stay in the same team

The major goal for next year is a Lebron and Bosh combination platter. I was doing the math the other day, for us to be able to throw two maximum contracts at these two, we have to hope that the salary cap is placed around 55 million or greater. This year I believe the cap is set at around 59 million. Normally the cap goes up year to year, but because of the hard economic conditions, Stern said the cap may fall to about 51 or 52 million. Hopefully those numbers from Stern are a little pessimistic. If the cap is set at 55 million, here is how our numbers would play out for the dream scenario.
A max contract for the Lebron and Bosh draft (they were both drafted in the same year) would be 30% of the salary cap. So each contract would start at 16.5 million dollars. In total, 2010 salaries for the two superstrs would be 33 million dollars. If the cap is at 55 mill, that leaves 22 million for the rest of the roster:
Harris: 9 mill
Jianlian: 4 mill
Lopez: 2.4 mill
TWill: 2.2 mill
Lee: 1.35 mill
CDR: .85 mill
Total for these 6 core guys: 20 million
This leaves us 2 million in wiggle room. Theres a 500k Dooling buyout that would take some of that space and I’m sure Thorn is going to want to bring back Hayes as well. Obviously we still wouldn’t have a full roster, but I believe you can go over the cap to fill out a roster if you are signing guys to veteran minimum salaries.
As for Najera and the 2 2010 draft picks – I’m thinking we can trade one of them as incentive for another team to take Najera off of our hands, and we can trade the other one for a 2011 first or second rounder. This would minimize our salary commitments for 2010 and allow us to increase our contract offers.
Again, this is all based on the assumption of a 55 mill salary cap. If the cap goes down to 50-52 mill as has been reported, it would be tough to try to offer the 2 max contracts. We probably could if we traded Yi into another team’s cap space for draft picks in later years. But I think one of the big carrots for Lebron would be the Chinese exposure, so I doubt they want to do that. In any case, should be an interesting and entertaining offseason next year.

No. The Nets didn’t put all that effort into freeing up tons of 2010 cap room only to waste it all on AK47. Might as well have predicted trading Lopez for Eddy Curry. Nothing to see here folks…

Please, this Kirilenko talk is unfounded. Just speculation. Yeah, a very original idea.
Kirilenko’s is one of the absolute worst contracts in the entire league. The guy is not worth half the money he makes a year. There’s zero reason to trade for a guy with such a bloated deal, he would kill our flexibility.

As for all this 2010 craziness… I could care less. I really believe we have no shot at the top tier FAs.
IMO, there are only two players worth a max contract: James and Wade. End of the story.
Chris Bosh is one of the most overrated players in the game. He’s soft and he’s a loser. He is a player whose team will always underachieve. He is by no means worth a max contract.
Nets should focus on player development this season. That’s all that matters right now. If they can get a difference maker, great. But it’d be really complicated, so I don’t care a bit about it… we will be in great shape, whether we land a top tier FA or not.
We have a great young core and we could land another building block in the draft. I think we’ll get our best addition in the draft, not in the Free Agency.
James, Wade, Howard, Bosh, Stoudemire… how do you think their teams got them? IN THE DRAFT. This year’s draft looks really good. There could be some real franchise changing players. If we get someone like Derrick Favors, we’ll be laughing about Boozer, Bosh… In the meantime, we should care only about player development.
In Free Agency, I think guys like Gay, Lee or Outlaw would be realistic targets for us.

I also am not sold on Bosh. I would only give a max contract to LB, maybe Amare and Wade. I’d give it to Wade only if we had a proven PF at the time and not a rookie. If we draft a rookie PF then I’d prefer to keep the space for someone who is a sure thing at a “need” position.

A lot of the decisions we make for the offseason hinges on the development of our players. If Lee, CDR, and TWill emerge into strong wing players, than I don’t think it’s worth going out and signing Wade. LeBron is not coming to Brooklyn, whether we like it or not. If our wings play good, then we can get a player like Rudy Gay who would fit our roster being an athletic wing and we can sign another player with him to create depth on the bench. If Yi can develop into a reliable scoring threat and can hold his ground on defense, then we don’t have to go out and sign Amare or Bosh. Maybe we can go out and sign somebody undervalued, like David Lee or another reliable power forward, and again since we’re saving money by not spending money on a big free agent we can get some players to bolster our bench. And don’t forget that we have 2 first round picks.
But then again, next year’s free agent market hinges on how our players develop and what players we get through the draft.

the only way we attract Wade or Bosh or any form of SUPERSTAR player is by first luring in players like David Lee, Rudy Gay, and Travis Outlaw if we get a couple of these guys to deepen the bench, solidify the starting lineup, and put some more brigt spots in the lineup we have a shot at the big guns. Excpect LBJ to stay with cleveland but we do have a chance at landing Wade and moving Lee to the bench as a Nate Robinson type prescence as a sixth man. The possibilites are infinite!!!

Pf- Lee
C- Pez
Bench:

etc. etc.
Perhaps theres an outside shot at lebron or bosh if were good now, widen our fan base, and increase our likelyhood to succeeddd!!!! GO NETSSS

Oh man! If you have Harris, TWill and Wade forming a trio, it’ll be probably the most balanced trio int the league.
No thanks to the second-tiered guys like Joe Johnson. Bosh is a little overrated as well.
People don’t understand. If 2010 offseason was to make us a contender, it has to be either Lebron or Wade. With guys like Bosh, it might make us a 3rd or 4th team in the East, but then we’ll be stuck there until some magic happens.

Forget about lebron james, we need a legit star at the 4 going forward. I think we’re fine on the perimeter with our assortment of wings.
In order to lure Lebron/Wade here we have to make the playoffs. That is a pipe dream, so lets worry about who we have and what pieces we can add in the offseason to make this team better.

I still believe Lebron is the ultimate goal and Thorn/Kiki are going to do whatever possible, whatever it takes, to get him. Lebron could play PF on defense, and run with TWill, Lee, CDR, and Brook and we would be the best team in the league. Thats not even taking into account Harris, or the other superstar we may be able to attract with the cap space we will have.

Wish for the best case scenario but prepare for the worst. The Nets have many options available. That’s is what is so sweet about their current situation. I think we will land LeBron, but if we don’t, we don’t. Move on…

I agree with you guys I’m not sold on Bosh alone. Bosh playing with another superstar could be deadly, but Bosh alone, no. I wouldnt go after Amare either though, he’s a crybaby and wants to be the focal point of an offense. Wade would of course be a great pick up but good luck getting him to leave South Beach and being King of MIA esp with all the women out there lol. Wade also wouldnt be able to play with Harris which means now you have to trade Harris away because Wade absolutely dominates the ball, That creates a new hole at PG. I think the Nets would be better off looking at the 2nd tier guys like Boozer, Joe Johnson, Tyson Chandler, David Lee, Al Harrington. While all the other teams are out chasing the LeBron, Wade, Bosh pipe-dream the Nets could pick up a couple of those 2nd tier guys and be set including our draft picks.

fyi, I mentioned Proky might want to get AK-47 shortly after he signed the intent to buy the franchise.
AK is owed 16.5 million for this year and 17.8 million for next year. They would have to trade Simmons and someone else plus a draft pick. It would be a huge savings for Utah next year, which would be the reason for Utah to do it without getting much back.
However, this deal would never happen until Proky was in full control of team – not before Christmas. Ratner could not risk Brooklyn collapsing and being stuck with AK’s salary.
AK would split time at PF, his old position. Otherwise no reason to do the deal.
However, unless Proky viewed it as a “Christmas Gift” and that he was prepared to pay massive luxury tax in 2010, as a result, I doubt if Nets fans would be happy.
I would much rather have David Lee, but Camby is still the most realistic trade in the short future (before Proky has full control). The 35 year old Camby would split between PF/C, not being a threat to Yi’s future.
