Kiki Vandeweghe’s 16-old niece … is playing her first round tennis match at the us open. Her name is coco vandeweghe.
She’s playing the #2 seed, jelena jankovic.
It’s on tv right now … usa network.
Kiki’s there watching.

Anyways she’s at the US Open at such a young age so she’s at least got talent & potential (hey like Yi haha). This Donald Young guy too looks pretty good at his age. Haven’t followed Tennis much so haven’t seen this guy before.
and yeah I thought Brooklyn Bob was like some 30+ year old longtime fan. I hope not…yikes.
Too much sports w/ Olympics & all, not that interested in the US Open yet. Call me when (if) Federer / Nadal clash again.
and it’s not “blond”. It’s Blonde, so says Bob Dylan & that’s good enough for me.

She just received a big endorsement deal.
But she does have some potential on the court. Hits the hell out of the ball. Just needs to improve her accuracy, consistency, shot selection and fitness level. Female players don’t peak until their mid-20s. So she’s got plenty of time to improve.
BTW, i’ll keep my age to myself, if you don’t mind.

“Blond” can be spelled either way … blond or blonde.
Both are commonly used. Both are grammatically proper.
BTW, if you want to see exciting tennis, some of the best matches are played in the early rounds. And it’s far better if you go there to see it in person. Especially on the dozens of field courts outside the stadium. You can sit right next to the court because it’s first come, first serve(no pun intended).
Beats the hell out of going to an nba game. The us open draws 700,000 fans in 2 weeks of play … the most of any sporting event in the nation. Most nba teams barely draw that many fans in an entire season.

before any of u criticize yi one more time he did great at the end of the olypics he was like basicially avering a double double in a league of the best players he had better stats than dwight howar dand jason kidd and michael redd and chris paul and deron wiulliams so all of u stfu i agree with king ling and wtf are u talking about lawerence is a great person and a great coach he is one of a kind so everyone blow me!!!!! much love

Yi nearly averaged a double double in the games had he actually showed up for the first two contests his stats would be even better.

A couple thoughts on Coco and tennis….
Devin… Coco is ok, but I doubt she amounts to much tennis wise. 16 y/o’s are not that rare in tennis. She’s almost 17 and Sharapova was 17 when she won Wimbeldon. Also, female tennis players hit their peaks early. 19-23 are probably their best years, where anyone past 25 is really over the hill in tennis (sad I know).
As for Young, he’s never going to be much either. I saw him front row at the Open a couple of years back as a junior, and he’s barely gotten better since then. Still not strong enough, still not consistent enough and still not mentally tough.
I head down to the Open basically every year, but work is preventing me from planning ahead this year, so if I go it will spur of the moment. As BB said it’s the best experience. So much tennis, so many people!

Blond or Blonde?
The words blond and blonde come from the French and follow somewhat the French pattern. Blond (without the e) is used to describe males, mixed gender, or uncertain gender. Blonde refers to women or female gender.
In modern use, blond is sometimes used for female as well as male, but blonde is preferred for female.
