The Cavaliers held the Nets scoreless in overtime and advanced to the Las Vegas Summer League semi-finals Saturday night. Final Score was 91-83. While Cleveland moves on, Brooklyn goes home.
The game was a game of runs throughout. The Nets dominated in the paint but couldn't hit from the outside, with the exception of 6'9" wing Beau Beech who finished 5-of-9 from three for 15 points. The rest of the team was 4-of-16.
With the Nets down one with 11 seconds left, Isaiah Whitehead missed the first but made the second. After Jordan McCrae missed a three and the game went into overtime, Cleveland reeled off eight points as the Nets missed seven shots, four from deep.
Sean Kilpatrick scored 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting but was only 1-of-9 from deep and committed seven turnovers Beech added seven rebounds, but his defense --or lack of same-- was targeted repeatedly by Cleveland's offense. Yogi Ferrell had probably his best game, scoring 10 points but had only one assist. Chris McCullough had 10 boards for the second straight game, but shot 2-of-16.
This being summer league, Kenny Atkinson experimented with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson at the point. RHJ finished with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block. He took only seven shots, but did make a nifty tournament layup with 31.9 seconds left to put the Nets up by one.
