Hours after Greivis Vasquez inked his new deal in New York, the Nets announced that Luis Scola, the 6'9" Argenntine power forward, had signed as well, apparently in Las Vegas. The signing brings the total of guaranteed deals to 12.
There's been no reporting on how much the one-year deal is worth. Assuming that his deal is similar to Vasquez --around $5 million-- the Nets still have more than $20 million in cap space.
Speaking about the two signings, GM Sean Marks said...
"Luis and Greivis are ideal fits for the team culture we are building in Brooklyn.Bo th are terrific competitors who will provide leadership and veteran experience to our locker room. Luis adds toughness, scoring and passing ability to our frontline, while Greivis is effective from either backcourt position, both as a facilitator and a scorer."
Scola is in Las Vegas, where he arrived Tuesday with Team Argentina who's playing three "friendly games" in the Nevada city after the conclusion of the NBA Summer League. Vasquez signed in Brooklyn, having flown in from Kaunas, Lithuania, where the Venezuela national team has been playing, also in advance of the Olympics.
