Gomes played professionally for 11 years, most recently this past season with the L.A. D-Fenders, the Lakers D-League team. Gomes played in the NBA with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers and Thunder as well as teams in Spain and Germany.
The 33-year-old would join Ronald Nored, the 26-year-old head coach who came to the Nets from the Boston Celtics where he was an assistant coach with the Maine Red Claws. Nored played at Butler under Celtics head coach Brad Stevens.
In addition to head coach and assistant coach, the L.I. Nets will have a GM and trainer. The team will play at Barclays Center and practice at the HSS Training Center.
