Free agency talk

The draft is over and so are the speculations on the whos and hows are done. The team came away with 2 somewhat versatile players on either offense or defense. Only time will tell us on what kind of players they will truly will become. With that said it's time to shift our attention to free agency. Just like all fans I have an opinion on who they should go after in free agency to improve this team.

Lets start with the Point Guard position. From what I have read the Nets seem to be interested in pass first point guards. From the D-League's best passer to Barcelona's Sergio. What they have in common is their passing abilities. I prefer these types of points especially for this current team. Just think of when the Nets were good we had a defensive passing point guard In Jason Kidd. The best free agent that fits that kind description is Rajon Rando. Even with his baggage I would offer a 1 or 2 year deal with a player option. It should only take 2 years to groom the future point guard. Hopefully in the mold of Russell Westbrook who I consider the best overall point guard in today's NBA. Either it be starting this year or next year, but right now we need a place holder.

Next is SG/SF. Here is where it gets tricky because there's only 1 or 2 true shooting guards on the team in Brown and Ellington. Everyone else are either Combo Guards (Jack, Whitehead) or Shooting Small Forwards (Bogdanovic, Hollis-Jefferson, LeVert). The question here is not who will they add but who be returning. Ellington has a player option to decide on. Brown if I'm not mistaken is a restricted free agent that is most likely to return. Jack who I would like to see traded is coming off a major injury that will cost the team 6 million to keep or 500k to cut. Lastly our first round pick LeVert will take some time because of his foot. Basically we have nothing really to worry about here.

Whent it comes to the Power Forward position we are very thin with 1 player in Chris McCullough. Robinson opted out and will most likely sign with another team. I feel as though they need to make a hard push for Derrick Williams. He's only 25 so offering him to a 4 to 5 year deal wouldn't be crazy. Something between 7 to 10 million dollars a year should do it. My reason for this is based on his potential and the ability of the coach to get it out like he has for other players. Not to mention he's big and athletic enough to play both forward position. Lastly with Ben Simmons drafted by the 76ers. The Nets are going to need athletic big men who can guard him.

Last but not least the Center position. What is needed here is some who is the almost the opposite of Lopez. The first person that comes to mind is Joakim Noah. That's not happening because he's a starter who's going to want starter money as well as being a starter. I can't see him being a power forward but maybe he could.
