I know it's too early to make any trade suggestions, or any roster upgrades since training camp hasn't even started. But i'd just like to see if this idea would appeal fellow nets fans. How about trading for Thaddeus Young. Young could replace Pierce in the roster and would be a decent piece going forward. I know that there are news that he might be moving to Minny for Anthony Bennett. But what if we try to acquire him for a slightly better package(biased opinion here). How about shipping one of these two packages for Young:
Package A: S&T Andray Blatche ($5 Mil, if im not mistaken that's the max of his early bird rights. The exact same contract Keith Bogans' was given when he was traded to Boston) along with Bojan Bogdanovic and Marquis Teague.
Reason why the Sixers would do the trade: Like Bennett, Bogs is an unproven NBA player with upside. But unlike Bennett, he has more of what the young sixers team need, a decent wing scorer and shooter. Plus with Blatche, the Sixers would have a player along side Noel, that would take the scoring load for them. Teague would be a throw in to make salaries match
Reason why the Nets would do the trade: They'd get a player that is athletic and can score, and can play both forward spots. His contract runs until the end of 2015-2016 season. (Which is the last season of Kevin Durant's season). If KD doesn't move to BK, Young would be a nice Plan B or Plan C since they could offer him max (correct me if i'm wrong)
Reason why the Sixers would NOT do the trade: Bogs is older and like i said, unproven. Blatche mentoring Noel is a bad bad idea, but i'm counting on Blatche's upcoming FIBA experience to try and be more mature.
Reason why the Nets would not do the trade: Doing an S&T with Blatche would contradict what the reason why they didn't re-sign Paul Pierce. It would add more to their payroll. Meaning more luxury tax payments.
Package B: Trade Jarrett Jack, Bojan Bogdanovic and Mason Plumee for Young
Reason why the Sixers would do the trade: Acquiring Bogs and Plumlee would mean the Sixers would have 2 players that has the potential to be a starter in the league. Plumlee and Noel might have a similar game offensively, but with Joel Embiid out for a long time, having a decent player along side Noel would fill the gap until he's ready. Plus having a player that's as athletic as Noel would mean a nice run and gun game for the young sixers team. Finally Jarrett Jack could mentor and start along side MCW.
Reason why the Sixers would not do the trade: This package might appeal them more than the 1st one, but still, Bogs and Plumlee's potential is not as high as Bennett's. And Jack might be unhappy being in a rebuilding situation in Philly.
Reason why the Nets would do the trade: Same reason as the first offer. Filling the back-up PG role would be a problem since neither Teague nor Gutz is capable of being a second tier PG at this point. Looking at the remaining guards at the FA market, only names that stood out are Ramon Sessions, Jordan Crawford and Chauncey Billups. Amoung the 3, Sessions is the best option, but would he sign for a 1-year vets min. contract. If not signing, doing a S&T (again using Blatche's early bird rights) for a decent back-up PG.
Reason why the Nets would not do the trade: Losing 2 young players who they're counting on to contribute. And if they're trading Jack away, they'd need to find add salary even if it's just the Vets minimum or doing the separate S&T.
