Billy there is still something to do

With the signing of Markel Brown and Cory Jefferson the Nets roster is full. They have no room to sign anyone else for the time being. What bothers me is that Billy King says I quote "We are pretty much set". Am I the only one who believes that this team is not set and is not balance when it comes to it's players. I don't know how much Lionel Hollins has say about the roster but I can tell you we are not set. This team has to many guards and shooters. Not enough physical players and especially at the center position. Currently on this roster we have a total four true big men in Brook, KG, Mason and Cory. You can throw in there Andrei at power forward but I see him at his best at small forward.

With each of our bigs they are questions. Brook is one of the best offensive centers in the league. He often commands double teams in the post and can step out to hit a jump shot. Offensively he'll be used like Marc Gasol. Brook rebounding numbers dropped due to the increase of his offensive game. Not to mention players like Kris Humphries and Reggie Evans were more efficient at rebounding which gave them more playing time. The big question with Brook is his foot injury. Will he stay healthy for the the season and playoffs? What I don't want them to do is rush him back. I will take a month or two of waiting than another season.

KG brings experience, intensity and leadership to this group of bigs. But he was a shell of himself last year. Playing on the last year of his contract and most likely the last year of his NBA career. Can KG return back to his old championship form? Will he be that undeniable leader for a team that has gotten younger?

Mason is an athletic big who can finish around the rim but nothing else real. He talks about playing along side of Brook as a power forward. For me I ha about his strength, shooting range, defense and free throw percentage. If he can elevate his game to that of Kris Humphries and then add his athleticism on top of that. Mason in my eyes would have to start.

Cory Jefferson is a rookie and I don't for see him playing much this year. Not mention he might just get pushed around due to his strength.

The point of this post is to clarify that this team is not done making the necessary moves to really improve this team. What needs to be improved is our rebounding. I don't want to go another season being ONE OF THE WORST REBOUNDING TEAMS IN THE NBA. Hopefully coach Holiins can make that an emphasis during training camp. With so many shooters on this team we don't have the rebounders to balance them out. There needs to be a player I would call Mr. Windex. Reggie Evans was that player for the team, but who will it be now? That I don't know but one thing is clear he's not on this roster.

Lastly we need to make room by trading away Jorge and Teague for a future second rounder or a player on a one year deal. Then sign Adonis to a multiyear contract that's partially guaranteed so if he does develop into someone we can sign him long term. I hope Billy doesn't let him walk like he did with Gerald Green. I wonder how fun this team would have been to watch with Gerald and Mason on the floor together. The Nets could have been the east coast version of Lob City.
