Deron Williams received injection on injured left ankle before Game 7

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Following the Nets thrilling Game 7 victory on Sunday, Deron Williams told reporters that he received "an injection" on his left ankle following Game 6.

Williams took a nasty fall during the Nets win on Friday in Game 6 and was clearly hobbled the rest of the contest, sporting a noticeable limp when the ball wasn't in play. Williams also had a limp following the game.

Williams didn't make a big impact on the offensive side of the floor Sunday afternoon, scoring 13 points and dishing out four assists on three-of-eight shooting, but did a fine job containing Kyle Lowry in the first three quarters. He was plagued with foul trouble all game long.

DWill has a lengthy history of ankle injuries, so getting an injection of some sort isn't surprising. The key is that he is feeling well and didn't show any serious signs of injury during Game 7, one of the most significant of his career. Williams will need to have a great series for the Nets as they try to upset the Heat in the upcoming series.
