It pains me to watch game one of the Eastern Conference finals. Right now the Heat are being beating into the fourth period and knowing with the right moves we could have been there instead of the Heat. For those who want to trade away Lopez tell me what Hibbert is doing to the Heat right now? He's beating them inside where they are soft. The Heat are not a physical team and can get out muscled. West and Hibbert are getting these guys into foul trouble and taking players like Bosh off the floor because the can't handle them. What our team lacks is a physical presents on the floor at all times as a starter and a bench player. Rebounding is our greatest weakness on both sides of the court and this is a jump shooting team. Here's where we lack balance. If we can not make our shots how are we going to get second chances. We didn't penetrate enough to cause fouls but settled for jump shots instead. That's been a recipe for failure and we cooked it well.
Now the question is how are we going to get better? Going into this off season we have a lot of questions about who is staying and who is going. For me I just hope Billy King don't @#$% it up. And frankly I don't trust him at all because I knew we needed to get more physical but he didn't make the move with Lopez going down. We also needed to get more athletic at least coming off the bench with more youth, but we didn't.I sit here shaking my head just thinking about it. Time to move on and not think about the past mistakes. So lets get to it for me.
Moves to make this off season. First it starts with finding out who is staying and who is going. With players being unrestricted or having player options we are going to have to wait and see. If the Truth leaves I don't see KG staying so that's two players gone. Livingston and Blatche are both going to test the market but want to return. Anderson and AK47 can opt out if they desire more time with bigger roles on other teams. Collins will be back on the bench not as a player but as an assistant. The question is now who should come back and who should walk because we can not dish out all that money next year like this one. Wiser moves need to be made.Ballplayer's who I could see traded personally are Thornton, DWill and KG retirement. If the rumors are true that DWill wants to leave and Livingston leaves for free agency. Then it's time to trade him for 2 first round, 2 second round picks and player if that. Maybe Philly will be willing to trade picks and Young or maybe Detroit.I would prefer keeping Livingston and trading away DWill. Next is to find out if our Euro player are coming or going and are any good. After that bring up our D-league players like Banks and Thomas to have roles coming off the bench. Finally make sure you find these diamonds in the rough that had question marks coming out in the draft that didn't get drafted. All in all this team needs to get more physical, fast and defensive.
Last but not least here's a link from hoopshype to show the potential free agents available this off season, so check it out and comment on players either through trade or free agency that can improve this teams physical toughness. http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2014.htm
