I know this probably is never going to happen but since this crazy story about D-Will came out I just wanted to see if we had to trade him, where could he go and fit. Looking around the league there aren't many teams who will give us young assets/picks for a player, who hasn't played up to his all-star level over the last 3 years consistently, and try and fit him under their cap. Then I thought about a crazy idea about another team in NY who is having a "little" problem with their star player. The player who isn't sure he'll opt out and a GM who might not think this player is the answer moving forward. So here we go and you can laugh and curse me in a second :) ...................
How about we send Williams, Thornton, Teague and Anderson for Anthony, Felton and JR Smith.
Why would the Knicks do this...Well if the Knicks feel Anthony is leaning towards opting out they figure why not get rid of two bad contacts (Felton and Smith) while bringing in a player who value is at his lowest and could only go up and maybe become the star he once was. Thornton and Anderson would be expiring the following season also. D-Will might fit the roster better with a center who plays inside (dunks most of the time) and Stat (who always plays better without CA). Plus after two years D-Will will be one of only two Knicks (Hardaway is the other) signed and they can go after big FA's.
As for the Nets we would be getting Anthony who doesn't have to leave "home". He will get his money because our owner will never tell anybody to take a pay cut plus CA knows the Nets will do or buy anything to be competitive and win a championship. Nets won't be doing a rebuild like the Knicks might do. CA is a offensive force who can score at will. Yes his defense is not desirable but when going against the top teams we need a player who can score against the other teams star (like Lebron or Durant). Yes we are taking on two bad contracts but no way Knicks do this for D-Will straight up. Anthony is the better player by far (I'll admit I am and always have been a CA fan going back to his cuse days). Also when Kidd was on the Knicks JR Smith and Felton both played better so maybe we get lucky, real lucky and both those players might become serviceable bench players. As for people who would say Brooks would never score 20 again with Anthony on the team...I would say great, I rather have Brooks be a 15/10 or 16/9 guy then a 24/6 center.
Nets line-up if Garnett and PP comes back....(we'll probably lose Blatche and AK)
Bench: Tele, JR Smith, Plum, Gutierrez, Garnett, Felton, FA
If Garnett retires and PP leaves then I say bring back AK(he would start meaning more minutes for him) and Blatche....
Bench: Tele, Blatche, Plum, Gutierrez, Felton, JR Smith, FA
I'm no GM or trade master and I know this will never happen but I like either one of those line-ups above and I think we would have a much better chance beating a team like Miami.
