Sean Deveney, in his Eastern Conference preview, writes of all the usual reasons why Nets fans should be concerned: Jason Kidd is a rookie coach and Kevin Garnett, Andrei Kirilenko and Paul Pierce are injury-prone (well, two of the three are.). But that's not stopping the Sporting News writer from listing the Nets as the favorite to win the East.
"The roster features enough wise old veterans to ensure chemistry issues will be minimal," Deveney writes. The team lacked heart and passion last year, but the new guys will turn that around, making the Nets the most legitimate threat to the Heat."
Meanwhile, Rob Mahoney ranks the Nets off-season as a B+, listing all the picks the Nets have traded away or swapped (but without noting the same is true, or worse, with the Lakers, Heat and Knicks.)
