Should AK47 start?

Let me start this post by saying I really like Paul Pierce's game. I think he is currently an underrated player. He was a top small forward last season after Rondo went down. His offensive game is super versatile. A true triple threat with the ball at the top of the key.

That being said, AK47 fits with the rest of the starting unit so well it is brilliant. His defense is extraordinary. His is a good pick and roll player while KG is more of a pick and pop player now. He is a great interior passer which is what Brook needs. His rebounding is also a plus next to Brook. Imagine the defensive potential of Dwill, JJ, AK47, KG and Brook. We could inflict our defensive will on most teams from the beginning which would likely lead to the poorer teams giving up early which would lead to more rest for the older guys. There is a reason we are used to a "scrub of the night" coming alive to have career games against us. It's because the defense early allowed them to have confidence. A starting lineup with AK47 helps limit that off the bat.

Lastly, PP's game seems to fit a second unit. That's the reason he usually ran the second unit with the celtics. He is an excellent point fforward. That is not needed with the starters, but would be useful to lead a second unit. Also, it would help limit his minutes to keep him fresh for the playoffs. He probably would finish most games also.

I guess the only question is, would Pierce accept this? I think if the team really does check their egos at the door, then he would.

It's a nice problem to have. Years past we were debating Travis Outlaw vs Damion James.
