Before joining his teammates in L.A. Jason Terry stopped by Floyd Mayweather's training camp in Las Vegas. Chris Robinson of Doghouse Boxing caught up with him and asked him about the Nets. As he said, "I'm very excited."
Smiling throughout the short interview, Terry said he got inspiration from Mayweather, who he's known for three years. But he's also inspired by what he will see in the locker room.
"There comes a time in every athlete's professional career when he is looking for an edge, something to carry him into tne next season. My goal is to win a championship. I have another opportunity in Brooklyn. My motivation just came right here from the champ."
Asked why he's so excited, Terry ran off the reasons, starting with his once and future teammates.
"We got champions. When you talk about Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, these guys are Hall of Famers. Jason Kidd. He's a champion. He's a future Hall of Famer. Deron Williams. He's going to be an MVP candidate. Joe Johnson. The names go on and on. Brook Lopez.
"We have tons of talent, but that's going to win it alone. We're going to have to put in the work. Then at the end, we're going to have to stay healthy and you know who the champs are. The road to the championship goes through Miami and and we know that. There's only two people on the Brooklyn Nets who have cracked that code: that's myself and Jason Kidd."
