Metta World Peace interested in Nets; feeling is not (yet) mutual

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

According to Sam Amick, the Brooklyn Nets are high on the list of teams that Metta World Peace could like join after amnesty. Both Amick and Jared Zwerling report, quoting those close to the former Ron Artest, that the Knicks are on the top of the controversial forward's list. The Nets, report Amick, are third after the Clippers.

But a league source familiar with the Nets plans says the team has "no interest at this time" in MWP. The 6'7" small forward will have to get through a blind auction and become an unrestricted free agent for the Nets to even talk with him. The Nets cannot bid on MWP in the auction because they don't have cap room. Only teams below the cap can bid in amnesty auctions.

The Nets are not planning to add a 15th player to their roster. Once they sign Andray Blatche, Shaun Livingston and Bojan Bogdanovic and then complete their blockbuster with Boston, they will have 14 players ... barring a trade. Other players who are likely to be amnestied starting Wednesday include Tyrus Thomas of the Bobcats, John Salmons of the Kings and Drew Gooden of the Bucks.
