Reggie Evans recruiting teammates for charity work in Pensacola

USA TODAY Sports

There's probably no Net more associated with his hometown than Reggie Evans is with Pensacola. For starters, it's his nickname. It's also the main focus of the Reggie Evans Foundation, which aims to help the underprivileged in the Florida Panhandle city, New York and New Jersey.

Founded in 2008, the foundation is having an active summer. On Saturday night, Evans hosted the ffoundation's eighth annual Reggie Evans Barbecue at the Pensacola Village Apartments, the neighborhood where he grew up. But the summer's big event will be a celebrity softball game in Pensacola's minor league baseball stadium on July 13. The fund-raiser will feature several NBA players, including Evans, Andray Blatche, MarShon Brooks, DeAndre Jordan and Rashard Lewis.
