Before everyone gets up in arms...yes I'm a Cavs fan...no I'm not here to Troll. I do have a serious question though.
How do you expect to improve the New Jersey Nets? Right now, they don't look capable of beating the best teams in the NBA (OKC, SAS, MIA) in a 7-round series (to me.) But with all your money basically tied up in 4 players (Lopez, Wallace, Williams, Johnson)...how much can you realistically improve? I know you have Kris Humphries expiring...but who do you think you can get for him (taking into account teams that will be looking to dump salary to ramp up for 2014).
I'm also looking at Joe Johnson (who I've thought is a bit overrated for a while now) and Gerald Wallace (vastly overpaid because of his declining athleticism and questionable offensive game.) Basically, your two best players are Lopez and Williams (who I was a huge fan of during his early years). From there, it seems like it's a huge step down in talent level.
I know your owner has money that he's clearly not afraid to spend...so I don't see a problem with you guys taking on a big contract long term. I just haven't figured out how it can be done. And I'd love nothing more than to see another Eastern Conference team knock Miami out of the playoffs (that team had collusion/tampering written all over it...even if nobody could ever actually prove it.) While I'd certainly prefer it be my team...I know my team has a ways to go.
