Kris Joseph signed for rest of season, eligible for playoffs

Brooklyn Nets

And then, there were 15. Nets keeping Kris Joseph

Kris Joseph has been signed for the rest of the season and next season, say league sources. Next season is non-guaranteed. The 6'7" Canadian swingman is now eligible for the playoffs. The Nets will pay him the vets minimum for this season, which is about $44,0000 on a pro-rated basis. If the Nets keep him next season, he'll make 120 percent of the vets minimum for a second year player.

The Syracuse product appeared in six games for Boston earlier this season and averaged 1.2 points. The Celtics selected Joseph in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft. He spent the first two months of the season shuttling between Boston and Portland, Maine, home of the Celtics' D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. He was cut in early January --he had a non-guaranteed deal-- and returned to the Maine as a free agent. Milton Lee, the Nets GM for minor league operations traded for him so the Nets could take a look.

In 27 combined games for Springfield and Maine of the NBA Development League, Joseph averaged 18.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Joseph now becomes the fourth rookie and third international player on the Nets roster and the 17th player to wear the Nets uniform this season. Last year, 22 players wore the Nets uniform.
