So i think the Eastern Conference is pretty much set as to which teams are going to the playoffs and which are not, although the order is very much in the air. That being said, which playoff seed do you think is the most beneficial to the Nets success in getting far?
I think it goes without question that the lower half of the bracket that will avoid Miami until the Eastern Conference Finals is a definite. We would need either the 2, 3, 6, 7 seed in order for that to happen. As of today, Pacers and Knicks have the 2 and 3 spot respectively. Although we have a chance to get the 3rd seed and top the Atlantic division, I don't think it's all that likely, but that would probably be the best spot for us. That would give us home court, lower half of the bracket to avoid Miami, a first round opponent like Atlanta, Boston or Milwaukee, and the Knicks will be in the upper half having to face Miami probably in the second round. I don't think this scenario is likely so the 2nd best option I think would be the 6th seed.
This would also keep us in the lower half of the bracket and we would play either Indiana or the Knicks in the first round. We have had success against these two teams, so pulling a first round upset and a second round upset is not completely out of the question. Essentially it boils down to this in my opinion; if we get the 4,5 or 8 seed, it'll be a first round exit or most definitely a second round exit. If we get the 2,3,6 or 7 seed we have a shot at the ECF. What do you guys think? Do we learn from the Knicks mistake of not tanking to get the 8th seed last year or do we try and get that Atlantic division title?
