-I wrote this prior to coach Frank being sent away. I was having issues posting so I emailed it to myself and will post now.-
The problem in this early season is Jason Kidd. I was at the Indiana game and watched as coach Frank diagrammed plays. As he was doing this, Jason Kidd was way off talking to the refs. How can the players respect the coach if they know he knows little and cares little about the X's and O's. I think the players like Kidd but do not trust him. I think they respect him as a man but not as a coach.
Let me ask any of you guys who you think is a better head coach. Jason Kidd or Doug Overton? Jason Kidd or Popeye Jones? Kidd was a great player that may develop in a great coach, but he is lacking right now. The problem with having a veteran team is that they know the difference between proper and improper. Jason Kidd may impress a T. Taylor, but Joe Johnson will wonder what the "Hell" Kidd is doing?
Secondly, the Nets are not imploring an identity. Kidd stated in the preseason that the Nets will be a fast breaking team creating easy baskets. However, the Nets normally walk the ball up the court. Kidd may want to implore a style that is not conducive to the talent on this roster. The advantage that the Nets have is there size, yet they do not take utilize it enough. Gordan Dragic was running all around Joe Johnson in Phoenix. However, I did not see the Nets pound the ball down low to JJ to make the littler man pay. Brook is bigger and more skilled than 90% of the other centers in the league, yet the Nets do not implore an inside-outside game plan. Shaun Livingston is a walking mismatch against 99% of the pg in the NBA, yet how many times have any of you seen him get the ball in the post. Blatche is allowed to play too high on the court instead of going down in order to impose his size and create switching problems. Even Deron is a big pg that can abuse many smaller pg. The Nets are not a fast breaking team. We do not have the personnel unless they use Tyshawn Taylor more often.
The Nets do not play smart. Against the Pacers, the Nets put Pierce against David West. The Pacers immediately saw the mismatch and scored twice. The Nets do not do the same. Today, the Nets are going against the Pistons. Little Jennings will be matched up against Livingston. Lets see if we take advantage of any of our mismatches.
If Kidd lacks an ego, the best move would be to allow coach Frank to run the team as the head coach knowing that Kidd will takeover next year. Allow this to be his training season. Give Lawrence Frank more $$ for the extended work and if Kidd truly wants to be a great coach, then will learn how to truly run a team. If not Frank, the Jerry Slogan or Lionel Hollins.
