Starting over would include ridding ourselves of 4 players - Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Jason Terry, and Brook Lopez. Those are the 4 contracts that take up the majority of the cap next year. KG is signed as well, but with a rebuild I don't expect him to stick around.
So in doing that, it would involve 2 trades that are realistic. The first involves the one team we thought we'd lose Brook Lopez to - the Bobcats
I believe this is one franchise that would welcome the risk that comes with the trade. It's tired of being in the lottery and this improves their squad now and down the road. Plus, they don't have to give up their young building blocks of Kemba and MKG. For us, Gerald Henderson would be the only significant contract next season and he fits the style that Kidd wants to implement in getting out and running.
The the other move to make is sending Deron and Terry to LA for Gasol. We'd also get a cheap young wing in it as well.
I believe the Lakers would make the move as Deron fits their style of play. And again, this would allow us I start over going forward in free agency.
