The writing is on the wall. The Nets season isn't going anywhere soon and with the Nets future as bleak as it is, the Nets need to rebuild and retool through trades. If we can get younger cheaper players and picks that would be optimal.
1st I would trade Deron Williams to Houston for Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, and their 1st rd pick. Despite both Jeremy Lin and Asik having 2 yr contracts, they expire after next season so it's manageable. If Houston doesn't include a 1st rd pick, then it is not worth it. Next, I would trade with OKC. I would send Garnett and Jason Terry and for Perry Jones, Reggie Jackson, and a 1st rd pick.
Next I would work on dealing Brook Lopez. Despite his injury, he still has a lot of value and if traded to a team that isn't contending this year, a good deal could be found. In this scenario, I would try to trade Lopez to Orlando, Philadelphia, or Milwaukee. From Philly, I would try to get either Nerlens Noel or their 1st rd pick or both but realistically Brooklyn would have to give up more. For Orlando, I would want either want a 1st rd pick or Victor Oladipo but same case where they would probably have to give up more. Orlando and Philly would do the trade because despite the injury, Lopez is probably the best offensive center and he is young and still improving so he works with their rebuild. Another plus is that he gives them a star.
Regarding trading Lopez to the lakers, I would only do it for Gasol and their first rd pick. Gasol's contract is expiring and the Lakers pick should be pretty good. After all that we still have Ak47, Paul Pierce, and Blatche that we could trade. I could see the Nets trading Blatche and Pierce to either Atlanta (to hopefully get Atlanta's first rd pick so that the Nets regain their pick) or to Denver for the Knicks or Denver's pick, whichever is better b/c the lesser one will go to Orlando. What do you guys think of this rebuild idea? Any fixes or changes to it. Keep in mind that I was just looking for the draft picks or young players. Also all of these ideas might not work out together.
