Tyshawn Taylor will start vs. Memphis

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Tyshawn Taylor had his first double-double on Friday night vs. the Rockets. Now, he will get his first start vs. the Grizzlies.

Jason Kidd told reporters in Memphis that he wanted to give Taylor a chance not just because of his improved play but also because Shaun Livingston needs a rest.

Livingston has averaged only 3.0 points in the last five games, and against the Rockets failed to score. In those five games, he shot only 5of-22, and missed his first three point shot in two years. In those same five games, Taylor has averaged 9.2 points and shot 17-of-41 including 2-of-10 from deep. Taylor has handed out 19 assists to Livingston's 17.

Kidd also confirmed that Paul Pierce will not play, out with a bruised right (shooting) hand.
