Two Teams to Keep an Eye On

The team may eventually come together and be who we all thought they would at the start of the year. In the event that doesn't happen, though, I don't believe Billy King will sit idling. Two teams that I expect the Nets to contact are the Bobcats and Bucks, for different reasons.

The Bobcats are trying to win. Signing Al Jefferson for the amount they did was a clear indication that they are playing to win. If there was a team that wouldn't hesitate at Deron Williams' salary it's Charlotte. They understand they can't attract free agents and will have to trade for any starpower they'll get.

The Bobcats have a young PG in Kemba Walker and a large expiring contract in Ben Gordon. Although not desirable to the Nets, there are teams out there that would enjoy getting their hands on those 2. And the first team that comes to mind is the Bucks.

After giving large extensions out to Larry Sanders and Ersan Ilysova, the Bucks have regressed this year, performing just as good as the Nets. And Brandon Knight has shown very little as well. It would not surprise me if they attempt to unload those 2 for capspace and young assets.

Although more pieces could be involved, a basic deal involves Deron to the Bobcats, Walker and Gordon to the Bucks, and Ilysova and Sanders to the Nets. That would give the Nets 2 players who fit in better around Brook Lopez than what we currently have and allow us to rid ourselves of Blatche.

Another team that could easily get involved with these moves is Chicago. The Bulls' urgency to move Deng was increased with the Rose injury. Charlotte can push them Kidd-Gilchrist along with Ramon Sessions' expiring and both teams would be happy.

That deal alone would not be the end of King's moves. I think he'd look to move Pierce and Garnett as well, especially Pierce. You have a GM up in Toronto that can't wait for Rudy Gay's contract to end. And I think he'd accept a one for one swap if it meant a better draft pick and earlier cap space.

Again, all this is speculation, but instead of just looking at what we're looking for I believe those 2 teams' motives could ultimately aid our player acquisition.
