Joe Johnson will be lonely at tipoff Saturday. He'll be the only starter on the court Saturday night vs. the Clippers.
In addition to the loss of Deron Williams and Brook Lopez, both of which were expected, the Nets announced in the afternoon that Paul Pierce will sit with a groin injury, apparently suffered early in the win over Phoenix. Kevin Garnett, who hurt his ankle in the same collision where Lopez hurt his, was a late scratch at game time.
The Nets also announced that Toko Shengelia has been recalled from Springfield and will be available vs. the Clippers after a cross-country flight. Shengelia participated in an Armor scrimmage Friday vs. the Maine Red Claws at the Celtics training facility.
Williams said this sprained ankle wasn't as bad as the one he suffered in September
"Not even close," Williams said outside the locker room Friday night after the Suns game."The other one is an inside ankle sprain. Totally different. It shouldn't be too bad."
None of the wounded Nets were wearing boots or were supported by crutches Friday.
