Is Lopez out "with ankle injury?" It's complicated

USA TODAY Sports

Confusion, confusion, confusion.

In an email to season ticket holders and other fans at 11:12 a.m. the Nets put out a "Game Day Alert" that both Deron Williams AND Brook Lopez are out Saturday vs. the Clippers

Brooklyn will need to bring that same intensity to the Staples Center against a Clippers team that is off to a 6-3 start behind perennial MVP candidate Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, and they will need to do so without the services of Brook Lopez and Deron Williams who are both out tonight with ankle injuries.

Then, a little less than two hours later, a representative of Nets marketing called NetsDaily to report that the email "was a mistake," that they "don't know if Lopez is playing or not."  The email alert was not updated as of 1:30. Sounds like a management issue.

Just before the call to NetsDaily, Stefan Bondy tweeted that it's still uncertain, that basketball operations in Los Angeles hadn't spoken yet.

Then around 4:30 p.m., Fred Kerber tweeted that Lopez is hopeful.

Williams hurt his left ankle in the first quarter and left the game.  Lopez and Kevin Garnett collided in the fourth quarter and Lopez came up limping but remained in the game through the end of the quarter and overtime. Lopez also hurt his left ankle.
