Joe Prunty to coach in Jason Kidd's absence

Portland Trail Blazers

As Fred Kerber tweets...

The Nets have chosen veteran NBA assistant coach (and British national team head coach) Joe Prunty to replace suspended Jason Kidd as the Nets head coach vs. the Cavaliers.  Prunty is a former Cavaliers assistant who has three rings under Gregg Popovich in San Antonio.

He’s also the last person on the team who COACHED a team during a game, ironically vs. Team Ukraine, coached by Mike Fratello. Lawrence Frank (defense) and John Welch (defense) will assist.

Prunty achieved national hero status in British basketball this summer when he took an undermanned national team to two wins in FIBA Eurobasket, before losing to Fratello.
