Deron Williams "game-time" decision; Andrei Kirilenko to miss fifth game

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

After a couple of practices --and an admission that this was a real injury-- Deron Williams moved closer to his debut Friday when the Nets listed him as a "gametime" decision, making him likely to play.

But while D-Will is playing, Andrei Kirilenko is out again, for the fifth straight game, with back spasms.  AK-47 participated in Open Practice Sunday and the spasms flare up.  He didn't even make the trip.  Also, Kevin Garnett, who didn't play in Boston, won't play in Miami. He's resting, meaning Brook Lopez and Andray Blatche are likely to be teaming up again.

D-Will also explained how this ankle issue differs from last season's.

Williams rested eight days around the All-Star game, missing two games, before coming back with a renewed vigor, which he attributed to a a juice diet and plasma replacement therapy.  At the time, the Nets dismissed the idea that weight was a big issue in his early season drop-off.

Shaun Livingston could still start. Bontemps also disclosed Friday and Livingston is now represented by Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management. Schwartz now reps Williams, Livingston, Jason Kidd, Paul Pierce, Tyshawn Taylor and Mirza Teletovic.  Schwartz, working with ownership, played a big role in getting Kidd hired as head coach and helped convince Pierce to accept a trade to Brooklyn.
