It's getting closer. The Nets open what could be their most important season ever in nine days vs. the Cavaliers. They still have two preseason games and must cut down their roster, now at 18, by next Monday.
Also, the Armor will be revving up in the next month, with the D-League Draft the first week in November and opening night a month from Tuesday. (By the way, that Roman numeral above translates to 87. We've done a lot of these in anticipation of what's about to go down)
October 23 - Nets play preseason game vs. Celtics in Boston. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN but Paul Pierce is traveling to Beantown, but not playing. Kevin Garnett isn't playing either, leaving the drama for regular season. YES will televise as well.
October 28 - Rosters set for Opening Day (5 p.m. ET). Jorge Gutierrez, Chris Johnson and Adonis Thomas all likely to be cut by now. Nets only have D-League rights to Thomas.
October 30 - Nets tip off season on the road in Cleveland vs. Cavaliers.
November 1 - Nets host the Heat at Barclays Center to open their second season in Brooklyn. ESPN will televise.
Early November - D-League Draft. Springfield Armor currently hold the #3 pick overall.
November 22 - Springfield opens its season vs. Maine in Portland. Don't be surprised to see Toko Shengelia in an Armor uniform as he continues his rehab from surgery. Also, Adonis Thomas, signed last week by the Nets, is expected to be on the Armor roster.
December 15 - Free agents signed in the off-season can now be traded.
January 6 - 10-day Contracts can now be signed.
