Nets, with point guard deficit, head to Philly

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

As of Sunday,'s practice the Nets had one point guard who's 'day to day" and had his leg up and iced (Deron Williams), a second in a walking boot to protect his sprained ankle (Tyshawn Taylor) and a third recovering from a sprained ankle that kept him out of Saturday's game. (Jorge GutierrezJason Terry, who has played some point in his career, saw his first real contact Sunday.  Also out Sunday: Andrei Kirilenko (back spasms). None are expected to play Monday in Philadephia.

Shaun Livingston and Marko Jaric are available and healthy. So, they'll be it  at the point Monday night, the first of a back-to-back and the second of three games in a four-day stretch. The Nets play the Celtics Tuesday in Brooklyn and Thursday vs. the Heat, meaning limited time to heal ... and to practice. So don't expect to see D-Will at all this week.

Other than medical reports, the big news out of Sunday's practice were birthday wishes for Paul Pierce (35) and Jaric (35); the return of Lawrence Frank to camp, and an exchange of words (but not fists) between Andray Blatche and Mirza Teletovic.

Late this afternoon, apparently just after arrival in Philly, Teletovic tweeted this, either referencing what happened at the PNY Center ... or perhaps just offering an homage to the City of Brotherly Love.  The succession of smiley faces ... and the Bosnian version of "yeah right: ... gave it away.

The Sixers are promising a running game this season. They are 2-1 with wins over Bilbao and Boston and a loss to the Thunder. They're young and pundits are predicting they'll be lucky to escape worst-team-ever status. The team's two best players, Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young combined for 32 points vs. Boston, shooting a neat 14-of-26. Spencer Hawes, playing against the anemic Celtics front court, came away with 17 and 7. The two players they hope to replace Jrue Holiday, rookie Michael Carter-Williams and second year man Tony Wroten, finished with 10 combined, shooting only 4-of-12.

Meanwhile, no one is predicting when Nerlens Noel, acquired for Holiday on Draft Night, will be healthy, but for sure it won't be Monday.
