Shaun Livingston: I feel like a rookie again

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Shaun Livingston will get the start again Saturday night vs. the Pistons. Expect him and Tyshawn Taylor to play a lot of minutes. Deron Williams is still out and Jason Terry, who can expected to see action at the point, isn't ready yet and Jorge Gutierrez, the camp invite who saw late minutes on Tuesday, has a sprained ankle.

Livingston played well Tuesday vs. his old team, the Wizards, and the Nets have confidence in him. "In the Washington game he ran the show, but he’s been doing that all of training camp. He’s stable … you don’t have to worry about turnovers, and he understands how to run a team," said Jason Kidd.

In an interview with Jim Rome and Tim Bontemps, the 6'7" Livingston talked about his continuing recovery from what may have been the worst injury in NBA history but also his joy at being with the Nets.

Asked if he’s ever been in a veteran locker room like this one, Livingston told Rome,: "No way. I thought i was a veteran until I came in on this team" adding "I feel almost like a rookie again."

Livingston had praise for his new coach's "calm disposition and demeanor" and Kevin Garnett's work ethic. "KG goes hard every day, simulating for the game."

He seemed to admit that there may be games where the lingering effects of his injury --which almost led to amputation-- can take a toll. "Hopefully there will be days where I feel good like that," he told Bontemps, "and I can be as explosive, because it definitely helps [my] confidence in my game when your body feels good.".
