Rajon Rondo blew out his knee Sunday and now, with an open spot on the Eastern Conference All-Star roster, the question is who will David Stern pick to replace him. WIth the Nets the winningest team without an All-Star, will Stern choose a Brooklyn player and if so, will he go with a guard or choose Brook Lopez.
The rules are quite clear, the commissioner is not limited in who he can choose, "If any of the All-Stars are unable to participate in the midseason classic for any reason, NBA Commissioner will select a replacement," according to NBA.com
Already the pundits are suggesting names. Brian Mahoney, AP's NBA writer, votes Lopez, noting, "Stern should pick Lopez, who was biggest East snub. Spoelstra will have Kyrie, Jrue, Wade, George and LeBron to handle the ball." But Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, tweets it should be a guard ... or Josh Smith. "Brandon Jennings, Deron Williams, Josh Smith or someone else for East AllStar replacement?"
