Andray Blatche: "Definitely tough to see Avery go"

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

In an interview with HoopsWorld just prior to Monday's game in San Antonio, Andray Blatche spoke about his transition from amnesty outcast to rotation player with the Nets and the roles that John Lucas Jr. and Avery Johnson played in it.

Of Johnson, Blatche said, "Definitely tough to see Avery go. He's the one who gave me a chance," saying at another other point in the interview, "Avery was there to give me a chance and I just had to prove myself."

Asked if he thought his role would change under P.J. Carlesimo, Blatche said he wasn't sure. "To be honest with you, I couldn't even tell you. I'm just not sure yet. It's still early. I can tell you in five more games what my situation, what my role will be." Carlesimo was an advocate of the Nets playing Brook Lopez and Blatche together and although he didn't pair them vs. Charlotte or Cleveland, the two did see time on the court together in San Antonio.

Blatche said he was sure the Nets would rebound. "I feel like we are still a great team. We had a ... We went through a losing streak, not wining games, but I still feel we are good team, going to get over it, still get into the playoffs and do really well this season. We still got a chance to real our goals so, We're not panicking at all."
