Sundiata Gaines, a Net for the last season and a half, became the third of the Nets free agents from last season to sign a contract with another professional team this summer. Gaines has a non-guaranteed deal with the Pacers, joining Gerald Green in Indiana. Shelden Williams signed last week with Chalon of the French League but tore his hamstring Wednesday. Also signed by the Pacers, Sam Young, who the Nets were believed to have interest in.
Gaines played in 57 games, starting 12, last year. He averaged 5.1 points and 2.2 assists, shooting less than 40% both overall and from deep.
