The CEO of Forest City Enterprises, which has footed the bill for most of the Nets losses the last decade, said Wednesday that the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for Barclays Center will take place September 21, a week before Jay-Z opens the arena with a concert.

David LaRue, CEO of Forest City Enterprises (parent of arena developer Forest City Ratner), announced the date in comments Wednesday to investors and analysts on FCE's quarterly conference call. FCE officially reported the ribbon-cutting and an October 22 investors open house in a press release announcing its financial results.
