Elizabeth Harris is a New York Times writer. She seems to have fun with Nets stories. She did the piece a few weeks back on how the rust on the Barclays Center facade could leak and make quite the mess. On Monday, she takes a poke at Daniel Goldstein of Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn who walked away from his eminent domain fight with $3 million and is still running protests like the one Friday.
Turns out Goldstein used some of his money to buy a house not far from the arena and expand it, angering both his neighbors, one of whom called it, "hideous and totally out of sync with the neighborhood." (Sound familiar? How about ironic?) Goldstein disagrees, calling the dispute "garden variety lunacy" and any comparison "laughable and offensive."
