The first "sports event" at Barclays Center will involve the Nets after all. Whether or not the Islanders-Devils pre-season game on October 2 falls victim to labor strife, the Nets will hold Media Day --and show off their new uniforms-- in Brooklyn on October 1. Although teams can begin practicing on October 1, that day is often given over to players and coaches doing interviews and having their picture taken.

After Media Day, the team heads back to PNY Center in New Jersey to begin training for the first pre-season game October 13 vs. the 76ers in Atlantic City and their home pre-season debut two days later vs. the Wizards. The Nets will continue to use PNY Center for another two seasons, through 2014, when a new training facility is expected to be complete.
